support from the state government.
The relations of the victims directly received cash, food
stuffs, clothing materials and other household items to cushion their
plight. More than 160 children were orphaned and not less than 42 women
widowed as a result of the carnage unleashed by men of the underworld.
A team of #NEMA officials led by Head of Operations, Nema
Sokoto Mallam Suleiman Muhammad were at scene of the incident for an
on-the-spot Assessment to ascertain the extent of the damages recorded
following the attack. The team also visited the injured victims who also
received cash assistance from the state government.
Information gathered from affected victims who escaped the
attack by whisker stated that the incident occurred as a result of a gun
battle between the community vigilantes who were trying to stop the
armed bandits from going into the community as it was a market day.
However, the happy trigger gunmen laid ambush to a canter
vehicle carrying traders to the community market and started shooting
sporadically and indiscriminately.
With the view to determine the extent of the damaged and to
ascertain those affected, the agency staff who conducted the assessment
will forward a comprehensive report to the federal government for
