The Commissioner for Education in Yobe state, Mohammed Lamin, has disclosed that Government Girls Secondary School, GGSS Dapchi, in Bursari local government area, recently attacked by Boko Haram terrorists, has registered 28 missing students that returned on Tuesday night with 20 others received from neighbouring Magwaram village.
He told newsmen that, “this has brought down the 94 missing students recorded at yesterday’s headcount to 48 this morning. We are still hopeful that more are returning soon”.
The commissioner went on to call on parents to report to the school whenever their children arrived home so as to update the existing list. The invasion of the school by terrorists had led to the missing of 94 schoolgirls.
Shortly after the attack, a civil servant in the local government had told DAILY POST that residents, including the students, scampered for safety when they saw trucks and motorcycles carrying Boko Haram fighters entering the town and shooting sporadically.
